The Sea and Me

That pesky minute hand.  She was so silent.

I heard nothing.  And wanted for less.

Did the sky ever cry?

Did the wind ever scream?

It was only the sea.  Only the sea.  And me.

Today.  I am a slave to nothing.

Prisoner only to my passion. Inspiration.

A confident being

Wholly its own beauty

It was only the sea.  Only the sea.  And me.

Gentle.  Graceful. Living, liquid poetry.

Beyond myself. Beyond these starving words.

Reaching into a higher dream,

Accompanied by the brightest stars,

It was only the sea.  Only the sea.  And me.

Keep tomorrow. Leave the earth.  Hold them back?

All your adventure.  All your stories.  Each drop.

My soul: a standing ovation

This journey. This life.  The sea.

It was only the sea.  Only the sea.  And me.
